Biography
Massimo Chiriatti serves as the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer for the Infrastructure Solutions Group at Intel. In this capacity, he is responsible for shaping the technological vision and driving innovation within a critical division focused on advanced infrastructure solutions. His expertise spans artificial intelligence, blockchain, and digital transformation, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of technology and human values.
Prior to his role at Intel, Mr. Chiriatti held the position of Head of Blockchain & DLT Competence Centre at Engineering Ingegneria Informatica S.p.A., where he led initiatives in distributed ledger technologies. His extensive corporate career also includes over 20 years at IBM, where he held various leadership roles such as CTO for Public Sector and Chief Architect for Cloud Computing, contributing significantly to the company's technological advancements across diverse sectors.
An accomplished author and academic, Mr. Chiriatti is recognized for his contributions to the discourse on AI and its societal implications. He is the author of "Human Driven AI," a title directly resonant with the themes of the Human Driven AI Summit 2026. His other published works include "#Humanless – L'algoritmo egoista" (Hoepli, 2019) and "Incoscienza Artificiale" (Luiss Press, 2021). He also co-authored the scientific paper "GPT-3: Its Nature, Scope, Limits, and Consequences" with Luciano Floridi, published in Springer, Minds and Machines, and "The case for human-AI interaction as system 0 thinking" in Nature Human Behaviour (2024).[3] He holds an Adjunct Professor position at Luiss Business School, teaching on Data Science and Management with a focus on Ethics for AI.[7] Mr. Chiriatti's influence extends to policy and ethical frameworks for emerging technologies.[4] He is a co-author of the Manifesto on Artificial Intelligence (2022) and has served as a member of the commission of experts appointed by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE) to develop the national strategy for blockchain and shared ledger technologies.[3] His work consistently advocates for a human-centric approach to technological development, aligning with the core principles of responsible innovation.[9]
