Biography

Angelo Tofalo is a distinguished figure in Italian defense and security, known for his tenure as Undersecretary of State for Defence and his ongoing contributions to strategic consulting and cybersecurity. He served as Undersecretary in the Italian government from June 2018 to February 2021, across both the Conte I and Conte II administrations.[1] During this period, he was notably delegated specific responsibilities for cybersecurity management within the Ministry of Defence.[2] His initiatives included the creation of C.O.R. (Comando per le Operazioni in Rete – Network Operations Command) and C.O.S. (Comando per le Operazioni Spaziali – Space Operations Command), underscoring his focus on modernizing Italy's defense capabilities in the digital and spatial domains. Prior to his executive role, Mr. Tofalo was a Deputy of the Republic for two legislatures and a member of COPASIR (Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic), where he gained extensive experience in national security and intelligence matters.[2] His academic background includes a degree in Civil Engineering and a specialization in Geotechnical and Hydraulic Engineering from the University of Salerno.[1] He further specialized by earning a Master's degree in "Intelligence and Security" from Link Campus University in Rome in 2016.[1] Currently, Mr. Tofalo is the CEO of AT Agency, a strategic consulting firm he founded in 2022, specializing in defense, intelligence, security, and cybersecurity.[1] He also holds several key positions in prominent organizations, serving as Scientific Director of CISINT (Italian Centre for Strategy and Intelligence) and Scientific Director of the Cyber Security Italy Foundation.[1] Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Clusit, the Italian Association for Information Security.[1] His commitment to fostering a broader understanding of security is evident in his co-founding of "Intelligence Collettiva," a project dedicated to the dissemination of security culture.[1][2]
